ACEs Breakfast Report

ACEs Breakfast a great success

In the midst of a delicious catered breakfast and encouraging fellowship, Saturday morning’s MCCF Fall Breakfast with Dr. Michael Scharf at the Rochester Academy of Medicine was very edifying.

Dr. Sharf presented a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to understanding what Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are and the long-term effects they have on development, health, and illness over the years. Tools for understanding, assessing, and intervening on individual and community levels were outlined, followed by a stimulating Q&A session.

Most of the session (starting at Slide #10 and including a review of the PDF handout) is covered in the YouTube video below. Click on the following links to access Dr. Scharf’s PowerPoint presentation, the referenced Resource Guide (complete with very helpful internal links inside), and a handout about how to score a patient for ACEs. Enjoy!
