Hello everyone,
I hope you all had a happy Sunday!
Last week, Sidd lead us on a great discussion on the word 'Grace'. Together we learned:
*
Grace is a gift someone of superior position hands down to one in trust. For example, Joseph received grace from Potiphar to be in charge of his entire estate. So often when the scripture says 'God gives us grace', it means he trusts us to steward all he's given in our charge well.
*
This is different from the meaning of being 'full of grace' , which means to be someone/something valuable, delightful, or worthy of admiration. And to treat someone as such is an act of grace.
*
Uniquely, in the bible God shows grace to both those who appear deserving and those who don't. Noah was the first man said to receive God's grace in the bible. He was a righteous man. But Jacob too, a trickster, received God's grace as well. This demonstrates Gids grace isn't by works and can't be earned.
*
Compassion and Grace often appear together in the Bible. God's grace defines us as valuable in His eyes, Gods compassion is the emotional, driving force behind God's grace for us..
Tomorrow, starting promptly at 6:30PM, Idorenyin will be leading us on a word study centered on the words "Slow to Anger".
Snacks & light refreshments will be provided.
