Servant of God - URMCCF 5/12

Hello everyone,

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Last Monday we had an amazing discussion on Romans 8. Some key points from last week:

  *   There is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.
  *
We may often find it hard to do good, even though we attempt. This is often because we don’t understand that our righteousness is a gift of love, not something we work towards. [the prodigal son understood this]
  *
We must approach God’s throne as his children, not as slaves (out of obligation/works/law). We’re no longer working for salvation, but, as God’s children, everything that God has is now ours. Just by simply accepting this free magnificent gift, we are transformed.
  *
Like the bitter older son who stayed out of obligation when the prodigal son left and returned, several of us may be IN God’s house but with a slave-like attitude, essentially still lost. This is why the scripture says ‘the prostitutes and tax collectors are entering heaven ahead of many believers’
  *
Following Christ often requires that we go through 'suffering', carrying our cross like Jesus did (verse 17)

This Monday, starting promptly at 6:30PM, Sid will be teaching us about how to be a servant of God!
