<div dir="ltr">We may often find it hard to do good, even though we attempt. This is often because we don’t understand that our righteousness is a gift of love, not something we work towards. [the prodigal son understood this]</div>

<div dir="ltr">We must approach God’s throne as his children, not as slaves (out of obligation/works/law). We’re no longer working for salvation, but, as God’s children, everything that God has is now ours. Just by simply accepting this free magnificent gift,
we are transformed.</div>

<div dir="ltr">Like the bitter older son who stayed out of obligation when the prodigal son left and returned, several of us may be IN God’s house but with a slave-like attitude, essentially still lost. This is why the scripture says ‘the prostitutes and tax
collectors are entering heaven ahead of many believers’ </div>

<div dir="ltr">Following Christ often requires that we go through 'suffering', carrying our cross like Jesus did (verse 17)</div>
