Last Monday we had a great discussion on what Palm Sunday means for our christian walk today. Some key points from last week:</div>

Jesus coming peacefully on a donkey (Luke 19; Matthew 21) may have been disappointing to those who expected a warrior savior (Zechariah 9:9-13) as prophesied. False expectations can lead us to miss Jesus in our lives, as evidenced by Jesus's curse on the Pharisees
(Luke 19:42-44) and the fact that Jerusalem was sieged in 70 AD much as described.</div>

Personal<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"> struggles & disappointments are hard, but also God's major teaching tool. God is also surprisingly closest then, such that we have peace in the storm.</span></div>

We suffer more when we compare ourselves. While on the surface, two people may seem on the same journey, we're on it to learn our own different lessons. So ultimately comparison is misguided. </div>

To avoid disappointment, it's important to maintain perspective. God is huge, and has a greater plan and perspective beyond our comprehension. While he deeply cares, he's not here to fulfill every short-sighted wish we may have. Trust he knows best.</div>

God chooses the humble. This is why he chose David over his big strong brothers, and why Jesus came humbly on a donkey.</div>

In other religions, the gods look strong and carry swords and weapons with blood on them, suited for the kind of warfare they engage in--against human enemies. However, Jesus came humbly, with blood on himself instead of on a weapon, suited to the kind of warfare
he was fighting, almost as if to show us HOW we’re to fight our spiritual battles, by humbly accepting (& transcending) life's pain. </div>

God is after our process, not just our glorious end. This is why he came lowly, at first, and why struggle-–the cross—is an inherent part of the equation. We struggle and are comforted so we can comfort others (2 Cor 1:3-7).</div>
